Alpha and Omega review

Okay, what do I think about this movie? It's decent. It ain't that bad, but it's not any good either. On the first look, the movie looks pretty average with the trailer, it's nothing eye catching or impressive. It's just something 'meh'. And with the way the trailer is made, it's like they're making this movie as an animated romantic comedy. And well, its because it is one.

Now, to begin, the plot is pretty simple. Kate, a female Alpha wolf, must marry to Garth, another Alpha male wolf from the eastern pack, to unite both pack to avoid conflict or territory and the lack of food resources, and in comes the main character, Humphrey. A happy-go-lucky and carefree wolf that has fallen deeply in love with Kate since being a pup. And one day both Kate and Humphrey got accidentally relocated to another reserved park and must head back to their own home before both wolf packs fight each other to the death over territory and the promise of the union of both Alphas. Sounds like a pretty typical story setting. Predictable too, if I may add. But it does have some cheesy moments and being entertaining at some point, but some of the running gags in the movie just gets a little old after a while. And there are some part of the movie that kinda feels weird to me, like in the beginning when Humphrey and Kate held paws while spinning in the air. Now wait a minute, how the hell did they do that when they have paws and not hands? That is just... odd.

As for the graphics and character design, it feels like something from a final year animation project from a college. Seriously, it really feels lacking a lot, and there are quite a few areas that I've noticed that has some flaws in the shadows. And the concept artworks that was shown at the credits, I actually love those! They should've made this into a 2D animation rather than 3D. That's also cause 3D animation is too overused that it has become dull. But that's another matter. The characters have their own charm and all, but it just doesn't really work that well.

But I have to say the voice acting in this is actually pretty good. Kudos to the voice actors involved. The audio for the movie is decent, nothing too special nor bland. It's just average. Nothing much for me to comment on, sadly.

Overall, the movie isn't that good. It's not really horrible either. The plots predictable, visuals aren't anything impressive or appealing, but at least it has its moments here and there, although few. Watch this movie only if you're a fan of wolves or that you enjoy something simple.

I'm gonna give Alpha And Omega a 4/10.
